Baby Passport Photos

Baby Passport Photos

Baby passport photos can be the most difficult to do.
While some countries are more flexible with requirements for baby’s photos,
the requirements are the same as for an adult.
The background must be plain white or grey with no wrinkles.
There cannot be any shadows behind the baby.
Also you cannot have a finger showing from the adult holding the baby.
Notice the photos of Mickey that could be rejected
This one is laid on cloth and the wrinkles show.
This one has a shadow.
The answer. First find a top for the baby that is oversize, allowing you to hold the baby without seeing your hands or fingers. If you don't have one, you can use an adult t-shirt.
In the studio. Have the parent sit on a low chair and hold the baby above their head. Notice that the photographer has a light behind to light up the background. You might like to have another adult to the side and behind to help if needed. Be sure to practice this at home.
The above photo is cropped below to the correct size required by the country. Mickey kept his mouth closed and eyes open. This is also required to some extent, but the eyes should be open. That will take planning on the part of the parent. If the baby is hungry they may start crying and it would be impossible to get a good photo. If they just ate, they may start to go the sleep and it is impossible to get them up in a good mood. The parent should have the best idea of what to do. These photos were done for demonstration purposes only. He didn't need a passport photo.
