Trent A. Echard is a shareholder at Strassburger McKenna Gutnick & Gefsky. He handles most types of civil litigation. With two engineering degrees, Trent’s background is geared toward solving all types of complex problems.
Trent was born and raised in Westmoreland County. After graduating from Carnegie Mellon University, Trent worked as an engineer for Lockheed Martin in the U.S. Naval Nuclear Propulsion Program.
Trent then attended law school and began his legal career as a staff attorney for a federal judge. In that role, Trent worked on a wide variety of commercial cases, employment cases, trade secrets cases, personal injury cases, civil rights cases, and white collar criminal cases. This experience built the base for the practice that Trent maintains today.
At Strassburger McKenna Gutnick & Gefsky, Trent continues to handle all types of civil matters. Recently, Trent served as co-counsel to the relators in Washington v. EDMC, which was filed under the federal False Claims Act. That case, along with three others, was resolved by a settlement for $95.5 million. Trent also recently served as class counsel in McLaughlin v. Phelan Hallinan & Schmieg. In McLaughlin, the class received the maximum statutory award under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
